Thankful Thursday: My Sweet Little Family

I feel like I must be the most BLESSED girl in the world to have an awesome, strong, chill, good-lookin', rock of a husband, like Kyle. Really....he knows how to press my buttons and pester me, but he also knows how to make me laugh, when to give me a hug, when to cook dinner....you get the point. This May will be 10 years, that we've been together. HOLY FREAKIN' COW..... That is a DECADE!!! I could go on for days, but bottom line....I LOVE him with all I am! The best blessing of all that Kyle and I are part of together is our sweet little Kylee Jo.

I just absolutely LOVE her. She makes a rough day BRIGHT. She makes a mess seem...not SO bad. She tells the most ENTERTAINING stories. She tells us to STOP being MEAN to each other - even if she THINKS we're bickering. She makes every situation seem so MATTER OF FACT. She LOVES her family, friends, and teachers. She is just SO MUCH FUN. She is loving, fair, entertaining, kind, determined, and just plain AWESOME.

No matter what happens with work, or finances, or anything....they both are just such HUGE blessings in my life that brighten my day! Thank you JESUS for THIS life, with THESE people, and all the wonderful FAMILY and FRIENDS you have surrounded us with!

Hovercraft, Hummer, 6-Wheeled ATV, Unimog & LOTS of Lots!

So, I helped out at the General Consignment Auction in Odem this past Saturday. We had SO many DiFFerenT items and 600 lots, which I think they said actually came out to over 800 items. Some of the lots were multiples or choice for example, let's say there was a lot of comic books.... It would be LOT# 101A, B, C, D, Etc. They would be distinguished by the type of series it belonged to.

So here are some of the items that went up for Auction. Some sold. Some the Lead Auctioneer had to put a call into the consigner. Some didn't meet the reserve. Nonetheless...you should have seen the crowd. There were LOTS of people there.

12 passenger Hover Craft. Never saw one of those before. A fella out of California phoned in for that one.
Hummer in GREAT condition!
6-Wheeled ATV....barely used.
My friend was wanting this REAL bad. She said something about if the Apocalypse came ....or something like that :) But really..... SUPER cool....
Here's a few more REALLY cool items. If any of this stuff interests any of you readers....keep a look out on their website. They have RAD items like these all the time. You can bid live on the phone OR place an absentee bid. Here's the website: http://www.elcoauctions.com/

Old Rider Fire Truck
Pool table in VERY good condition. They also had an air hockey table that looked like it was barely used!
MEGA cool WORKING Vintage Coca-Cola Refrigerator.

Buck up Baby & make it a FANTASTIC week! Happy bidding :)!

My Momma: 1st EVER Thankful Thursday Post

I've decided to have a feature post every week & decided I wanted to dedicate it to whatever I am thankful for. I have A LOT to be thankful for & thought this was a GREAT way to express that. I'm sure it will vary every week from anything from my family and friends, to that fantastic get-away I might get the chance to go on, to the best purchase we ever made (our memory foam bed) :).

This week I want to write a feature on My Momma!

My Momma

I'm a Momma now. I have been for 2 years and 10 months. Something changes in you when you become a mother. I got a phone call yesterday from one of my VERY good childhood friends, that recently found out she was going to have a beautiful baby boy. She was wanting advice on what she should do regarding a certain situation & it amazed me to think of how my advice before becoming a mother would have been different than what I gave her. My sweet little angel called me "Momma" for the first time last night. I call my mother, "Mom," but in my heart she is my Momma. I hope that this post helps anyone reading it to 1) Appreciate all Mommas and 2) Help Mommas appreciate themselves.

Mom & my Sweet Baby Kylee Jo @ her 2nd Birthday!
I want to give you a little background on my Momma. She does not drive. She helps my Dad with EVERYTHING. She is the facilitator during ALL arguments. She is a supporter. She is dependent, yet independent. She is shy around anyone except her close friends & family. She LOVES Alan Jackson, old westerns, cop shows, Dr. Pepper, old country music, her dog Wicket & Christmas music. She is a hard-worker. She is trusting, to a fault at times. She is misunderstood. She undervalues herself. She is mega laid-back, until she gets REAL mad. She puts up with a lot, from all of us. She perseveres no matter the situation. She is my Momma.

My Momma saved my life when I was probably 5 or 6 years old. I had eaten a piece of hard butterscotch candy. My Dad would get really mad if we ate hard candy, because he was scared we were going to choke on it. Well, this certain day, it got caught in my throat. On the inside I was panicking, but I didn't want to get in trouble, so I started walking to my room & was going to go back into the closet. I don't know why, but I remember - plain as day that's where I was going. I barely got into the hallway, when Mom said: "Heather, what's wrong?" I couldn't talk. The candy was lodged in my throat. I saw panic come across her face & then the panic REALLY set it for me. Without so much as a thought, she got behind me & performed the Heimlich Maneuver. The candy came out, & she hugged me so tight I thought she'd never let go & silent tears ran down my face. I was SO young. All I know is at that moment, I didn't understand everything that was happening....just that it was significant.

I unconditionally love my brother and sister, but we are all 3 COMPLETELY different people. We share some of the same interests and traits (especially being hard-headed). Somehow my mother knows how to listen to all of us, understand where each of us are coming from, tries to explain where the others are coming from, & stays neutral. I haven't quite figured it out. If you know the 3 of us AND our tempers...you'd know it is a HUGE task.

The Family 2 Christmases ago.
Mom had episodes where she had seizures when we were younger. She went to a doctor & he prescribed her medicine that has regulated them now. My Dad is on crutches. He has been since I was in 2nd grade. I remember waking up one morning to Dad falling. My Mom was having a seizure on the floor and Dad was trying to get to the phone to call 911 without his crutches. His reaction was to just jump up and go to the phone, but he was physically incapable. That must have been shortly after he started walking on crutches. He did get there, after falling about 6 or 7 times. He was so out of breath, he put me on the phone. I answered the questions and if I didn't know the answer that the 911 responder asked - I would ask Dad.

I also remember when my little brother was in Kindergarten maybe. We were playing in the back room, which was our Den & Chance threw a cookie sheet at me like a frisbee & he gashed my eye open. When I went up to touch it my hand was completely covered in blood & I FREAKED out. I went in the house HYSTERICAL. Chance was scared too. He ran over to my Grandma's and told her that he killed me! Mom was getting frustrated with me b/c it really was only a little bitty gash & I wouldn't calm down and talk to her. I told her I wanted my Daddy & I remember her saying: "What is he going to do." That was maybe said in the midst of a heated moment, but I very much APPRECIATE it now.

Mommas are the ones that, in the middle of dealing with their own lives, fix the owies, put up with the mean remarks in the morning when their trying to wake you up, makes sure there is food on the table, clean clothes to wear, is your friend when you feel like no one else is & I said I wanted my DADDY. I'm not sayin' Daddy didn't do some of those things too. Believe me...He'll get a thankful post too, but I COMPLETELY get it.

I am ever so thankful for MY MOMMA! Words will not ever be able to express how much I LOVE her. The thing is, we will NEVER understand completely understand all the people in our lives. I still don't understand why she just doesn't go and get her license! I just want everyone reading to think about those ROCKS in their life, whether it's their Momma, a teacher, friend, boss....whoever it is, and know that they have sacrificed something for us, love us, believe in us more than others may, and we've probably hurt their feelings or under-valued their importance in our lives, at one point or another. Appreciate them! Our Maker puts the people that are in our lives there for a reason. BUCK UP BABY & go give'm a hug or phone call. They deserve it!

I'm a WINNER!!!

I'm a WINNER!! Not a real long post today!! I just want to give a GREAT BIG shout out to Rural Women Rock! If you don't follow that blog...you should & tell us about yourself!! It's VERY inspiring to meet other Movin' & Shakin' RURAL women....that have figured out how to MAKE THINGS HAPPEN. PLUS....they have ANOTHER give -away :).

So...They had a give-away.... The 2nd of 3.... AND I WON!! Little excited?! I'd say so. I won this AwEsOmE, AWESOME necklace from Harley & Maudes! Go check out their Facebook Page!!

So...I knew it said "Rural Women Rock," BUT I did not know it had a little quote on the other side that said....."She believed she could, so she did." I KNOW....such simple words, but I've got a FANTASTIC way to look a situation UP, and down, & all around & then back AGAIN. It's good in most cases, but sometimes....YOU JUST GOTTA DO IT and it'll all work itself out :).

Anyways.....SOOOOOO happy! BUCK UP BABY & make it a GREAT week!

Independent Cattlemen's Association Fundraiser

This past weekend I helped Uncle Mele @ the Colorado Valley Independent Cattleman's Association Fundraiser. I'm just tryin' to get a little more practice in. PLUS...it was my Daddy's birthday &  long-time friends birthday AND our good friend that works on pipelines just got back from Turkministan (I think) & is getting to go to his next job in AUSTRALIA!! I'm pretty happy for him b/c he gets to go to a fun, happy place. Anyways...he's home for about a week. SO....we got to see LOTS of friends & family this weekend! Oh how I needed it.
This is a video from an iPhone, so it's a bit grainy. Thank you Mrs. Bonnie Pesch for videoing for me :) & for buyin' & biddin' @ the auction!!

I REALLY appreciate the COMPLIMENTS & ADVICE that I pick up at every, single auction I do. BELIEVE ME.....I'm listenin' to every word. It was also pretty cool b/c one of the buyers that was there actually heard me @ my VERY 1st auction in PLUM, TX! They told me: "I seemed to feel a little more confident than the 1st time, but I was good there too!" Now how sweet is that. Go check'm out if you need work done on your teeth....HATFIELD DENTAL CLINIC in LaGrange, TX.

I also want to give a shout out to all the donors & buyers!! I know I won't list everyone, so forgive me, but KNOW that you are VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!

Confusion & Trust

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY EVERYONE!!

So....I felt the need to post :). Not a whole lot of interesting stuff has been going on lately. Well....it may be interesting to you, but it's somewhat FRUSTRATING for me. I thought I'd enlighten you (a little) on just a little bit of what I'm dealing with.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the AUCTION industry, world, realm....whatever you wanna call it. I'm intrigued & really ready to PLUNGE myself into it, more than I already have, BUT....it's not like I can just quit working. While A LOT of auctioneers make a GREAT living....it didn't happen over night. I know a lot of you readers don't know me personally, but I'm the kinda gal that WANT'S IT & I WANT IT NOW :). I'm also the kind of gal that's willin' to work. I'm not sayin' that I'm the most FANTABULOUS, EXPERIENCED, FAST-TALKIN' AUCTIONEER.....b/c I'm not; but I know that I put ALL I've GOT to GIVE into whatever I need to LEARN about. So I want to DO MORE than what I'm doin', but I've gotta make it make sense.

I've had a bit of a hard time just tryin' to understand what is the "RIGHT" thing to do. I've been VERY BLESSED to have met some just AWESOME auctioneers that have AMAZING credentials & experience & ARE WILLING TO HELP ME. Sometimes.....they all want you to go in a different direction than the other, BUT you RESPECT ALL of them. Rightfully so....They've all gotten where they've gotten from hard work & payin' their dues. There are LOTS of avenues an AUCTIONEER can take. More than I EVER had thought about before I started this journey. One AUCTIONEER that I am ever so grateful for told me....."Your way too early in the game to know what "direction" you want to go in." It's weird....I knew that, but I had gotten all wound up b/c I didn't want other auctioneers I know to think that I didn't VALUE what they said & listen to them. I have been advised by a couple of people, to focus on a certain type of auction & not others. They aren't trying to slow me down. They just want me to make sure I align myself with the "right" people in the "right" fields & help me as much as possible. Here's the thing. I AM A PEOPLE PLEASER. I don't want to disappoint anyone. Some of these fellas don't KNOW me. They KNOW they see DRIVE & SMARTS & GRIT & all that jazz in me, but they've JUST recently met me. SO....with that in mind. If I just use my HEAD & ask their advice if I don't know if something is good or bad for me, make MY OWN decision, based on what is BEST for me - then I've shown that I VALUE their opinion & have made the BEST decision for me. I'm not sayin' get involved with an auctioneer that has a crummy reputation or anything. I still need to use my BEST JUDGEMENT & prioritize things the way they ought to be prioritized.

I've been a PROFESSIONAL for quite a while now, maybe not an AUCTION professional, but a professional. It's time I BUCK UP &  start actin' like one. It is no different. You take what you can from EVERYONE. Boy....I learned that lesson years ago when I was learnin' to ride cutting horses. I will digress....briefly.... We were at our cutting horse trainers & another Novice rider was trying to tell me how to "tune" my horse. Well....I thought I only needed to listen to the trainer. BOY....Did I get a butt-chewin' from my DADDY. I mean...I was respectful & listened to the novice rider, but was a cocky little SCHEISTER later on the way home. I'll just say.... NEVER AGAIN... will I discredit ANYTHING from ANYONE.

Anyways....I grew up thinkin' that the MORE EXPERIENCE you get...the BETTER you'll be & that you can LEARN a little somethin' from EVERYONE. RIGHT NOW... I want to be a GREAT Auctioneer & OPERATE with the VALUES & MORALS that I have. It'll take some time to be a GREAT one. But let me tell you....when you get that HONOR.... you'll have helped businesses, organizations, individuals, and numerous up & coming auctioneers and will have well-earned the MASSIVE amounts of RESPECT you'll have from other people & auctioneers. I can tell you one thing....I sure wish MR. WALTER BRITTEN was still alive. That fella has been dead & gone, quite some time (God rest his soul), but he's such a BIG DEAL people are STILL talkin' about him!
Here's the cover of Mr. Britten's Book.
I've heard Auctioneers from all over Texas talk, good talk, about Mr. Britten: from Abilene to Corpus Christi ,  Houston to El Paso. ALL I have to say is WHAT A LEGACY!!
Back to me figurin' out what's the "right" thing to do...To me, it seems that if somethin' seems "fishy"...it probably is. Stay away from it, ask advice, & use your head. If I want to learn more about cattle auctions & car auctions & antique auctions & energy auctions  & real estate auctions & equipment auctions & you get the point...then I'll take the steps I need to, to do that. Learnin' never hurt anybody. I just have to be sure that whateverI decide to do makes sense. If I'm NOT gonna make any $$ doing it - is the experience worth it? The answer will vary. I know how to make those kind of decisions. Momma & Daddy didn't raise no dummy :).

Like I said....I ENJOY it! I'm NO SUPERSTAR,  but I have talent & ENOUGH SENSE to know that I don't need to WORRY about doin' the right thing. I just need to DO it. I need to be cautious & do what makes sense & I feel comfortable doing. MAN! I can be pretty darn good at OVERthinking things.

Anyways....I'm not sure that this post has helped anybody, but ME. I hope I at least ENTERTAINED you with my CrAzY, OVER-thinkin' self. Go be with your SWEETIE, or your BABIES, or your AMAZING FRIENDS! SHARE the LOVE today!!! BUCK on UP & Keep on readin'! More tales to come. Believe me....DULL moments don't tend to travel with me.
